The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has alerted the public to the circulation of fraudulent recruitment and appointment letters by individuals allegedly impersonating the agency, warning job seekers against falling victim to the scam.
NAMA said it was concerned about the activities of unscrupulous persons using the agency’s name and identity to deceive unsuspecting members of the public with false promises of employment, reports Daily Independent.
In a statement issued yesterday, Monday, August 24, 2026, the agency categorically stated that it was not conducting any recruitment exercise, urging Nigerians to treat any purported recruitment offer or appointment letter issued outside its official channels with suspicion.
The agency warned that the fraudulent activities were targeted at exploiting innocent job seekers, many of whom could be persuaded to part with money or disclose sensitive personal information in the hope of securing employment.
NAMA said any person, group or organisation claiming to be recruiting workers, processing employment or issuing appointment letters on behalf of the agency was acting without its knowledge, approval or authorisation.
The agency stated: “For the avoidance of doubt, NAMA is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise.”
It added that individuals claiming to have the authority to facilitate employment or secure appointments at NAMA should not be trusted.
The development has prompted the agency to call on members of the public to exercise maximum caution in their dealings with persons presenting themselves as NAMA officials or intermediaries.
According to the statement, Nigerians should not make payments or enter into financial transactions with anyone claiming that money is required to obtain employment with the agency.
NAMA also cautioned prospective job seekers against submitting sensitive personal information to unverified individuals, groups or organisations claiming to be acting on its behalf.
The agency advised the public to independently verify all recruitment notices, employment-related communications and appointment letters purportedly originating from NAMA before taking any action.
It urged Nigerians to rely on the agency’s recognised official channels for confirmation, rather than unofficial messages circulated through social media platforms or other informal means.
NAMA specifically warned the public against representations made by unauthorised intermediaries who claim to have the capacity to influence or facilitate recruitment into the agency.
The agency reiterated that it does not authorise private individuals or third parties to demand money, fees or any other form of consideration in exchange for employment opportunities.
It also urged members of the public to report suspected cases of impersonation and fraudulent representation to relevant law enforcement and other appropriate authorities.
NAMA said members of the public should understand that any losses arising from transactions with fraudsters falsely claiming to represent the agency would not be the responsibility of NAMA.
“The agency will not accept responsibility for losses or consequences arising from dealings with fraudsters or unauthorised persons falsely claiming to act on its behalf,” it said.
The statement was signed by NAMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr Abdullahi Musa.
The agency assured Nigerians that it remained committed to transparency, accountability and the protection of the public from criminal activities involving the misuse of its name and corporate identity.
With the warning, NAMA urged job seekers to remain vigilant and carefully authenticate every employment-related communication purportedly issued by the agency, particularly recruitment notices and appointment letters received through unofficial sources.
The agency stressed that members of the public should not allow desperation for employment to make them vulnerable to fraudsters, advising them to always verify information through recognised official channels before making payments, sharing personal details or taking any other action.
