A former chairman of the Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Isa Wabi, has been killed in a violent attack allegedly carried out by acquaintances of his son.

According to a statement released by the Bauchi State Police Command, the incident occurred in the early hours of today in his home in the Fadaman Mada area, behind the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Bauchi, reports Channels TV.

The police said they responded swiftly to a distress call from a concerned resident and found Wabi in critical condition with multiple stab wounds in the neck.

He was said to have been rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was allegedly carried out by two individuals identified as Ahmad Abdulkadir (alias Abba) and Faruk Malami (alias Ajebo), both acquaintances of Wabi’s 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed.

“The suspects reportedly broke into the victim’s home around 3 am and conspired to assault him,” the statement read.

In a twist to the events, one of the suspects, Malami (Ajebo), was said to have been found unconscious at the scene, allegedly as a result of a retaliatory act.

He was taken said to have been taken to the hospital, where he was later declared dead.

Police authorities have taken Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed into custody for questioning and said he had been cooperative and providing crucial information as part of the ongoing investigation.

“The command is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice,” the statement added.

Following the incident, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the victim’s family to offer condolences.

Aliyu also assured them of a thorough and discreet investigation to ensure justice is served.
