Frustration as petrol sells between N1150 and N1500 per litre

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 14, 2024 3131 Minutes read0

•Petrol queue

Following the new adjustment in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) the product now sells between N1150 and N1500 in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital and its environs.

Our reporter who visited various filling stations and outlets in parts of Yenagoa observed that the price varies according to the outlets, reports Vanguard.

While some major marketers like the NNPCL, Total sell between N1,100 and N1,150 per litre, independent marketers visited sell between N1300 and N1400 per litre. The product goes for N1500 in the black markets, and even more in the riverine communities in the state.

The new adjustment has also affected the cost of transportation as commercial tricycle operators (Keke Napep) and commercial bus operators have also hiked their fares to reflect the new pump price.

Narrating his frustration over the new pump price, a tricycle operator Mr Monday Sometime, said most tricycle operators are running at a loss as they are finding it difficult to make a profit.

He said: “At this point, I don’t know whether to continue or stop driving this tricycle because, at the end of the day, you find out that all you have made is only used to buy fuel, no profit.

“I just bought fuel at N1300 in this filing station, I was at the NNPC mega station to buy fuel because they sell at about N1,100 or so but the queue there is such that I may spend the whole day there and I am still not sure of buying, so I decided to come and buy. The situation in this country is frustrating.”
