Late arrival of election materials mars Kaduna LG election

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 19, 2024 2351 Minutes read0

The late arrival of election materials and officials has disrupted ongoing local government election in Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the election was supposed to start by 8:00 am, but as of 10:00 am, voting has yet to commence in most polling units, reports Daily Trust.

Our correspondent, who visited several collection centres in Tudun Wada, Badiko, Magajin Gari, and Unguwar Sarki, observed that materials had not been distributed to polling units.

Registration and voting were scheduled to begin at 8:30 am and end at 2:00 pm.

Former councillor of Unguwar Sarki Ward, Zubairu Shan’una, said people were still waiting for the arrival of voting materials.

“We are still here waiting. As you know, the election was to commence by 8:30 am, but as of 10:00 am, the materials have yet to arrive at Unguwar Sarki,” he said.

One of the party agents at Maimuna Gwarzo Secondary School polling unit, Malam Idris, said he arrived at the venue at 6:30 am, waiting for the officials.

“We have been here since 6:30 am, but the officials are yet to arrive, and the materials have not been distributed,” he said.

At Magajin Gari, the venue was chaotic as party agents lamented the delay in distributing the election materials.
