•Armed Fulani herdsmen

Gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen militia, have reportedly killed three young men in two commuties in Adoka, Otukpo Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state.

The Caretaker Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Alfred Omakwu disclosed this while speaking to newsmen on phone today.

Omakwu who noted that his people have not known peace of mind in the last few months said the incident took place last Saturday, April 20, 2024, reports Daily Sun.

He stated that the armed Fulani herdsmen killed one person in Entekpa commuty and proceeded to Uda Ibi, Adoka Icho community where they also killed two persons.

“There is no peace in my area. We lost three youths again, one in Entepka, he was riding his bike and they followed him into the bush path and attacked him. They shot him dead, burnt the bike and escaped.

“At Uda Ibi in Adoka Icho, they killed two persons in a farm. The killers are herdsmen.

“We have been having series of meeting with their leaders (ardo) but these ones that come to our area, they claim to come from Nasarawa. They are not known and their leadership is unknown. These are the violent ones.”

He called on the relevant authorities to mount surveillance and secure the lives and property of his people.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, said she has not gotten any report on the incident.
