The FrontierThe FrontierFebruary 5, 2025 1980 Minutes read0

Security situation worsens in Ondo State as gunmen abducted 10 Travellers between Owo/Ipele area on Benin/Owo highway in the Northern Senatorial District of the state.

Sources revealed that the victims were coming in a bus from South-South region of the country on Sunday but were accosted and forced to a stop by the gunmen, reports Daily Independent.

They were instantly marched into the bush by their abductors while their vehicle was abandoned.

Sources disclosed that other travellers who saw their bus abandoned on the road in a manner that the vehicle was not well parked, observed that the luggages of the travellers were left in the bus.

Spokesperson to the state Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), confirmed the incident. But she said information at the disposal of the formation revealed that seven persons were abducted by unknown gunmen.

It would be recalled that some Fulani herdsmen shot dead five farmers in Ajegunle/Poweline Community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state last Tuesday.

There are reports that the family of the abductees have been contacted.
