HEARTBREAKING: Aborted twins found in refuse dump

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 26, 2026 641 Minutes read0

Residents of Special Site in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State have expressed shock and anger after aborted twins were discovered in a refuse dump in the community.

The discovery, made yesterday, left many residents visibly distressed, with some describing the scene as both heartbreaking and deeply disturbing, reports Daily Trust.

The foetuses, believed to be about five months old and identified as a male and a female, were reportedly found inside a polythene bag at the dump site behind a residential area.

A resident, Enman Danladi, whose house is located near the refuse site, recounted how the discovery was made.

“I am a commercial driver doing town service. When I returned from work, a man who was carrying out irrigation farming behind my house came to inform me about what he had seen,” he told our correspondent.

“He said he noticed a dog sniffing a polythene bag, with flies hovering around it. That made him suspicious. After chasing the dog away, he checked the bag and discovered the twins, then rushed to alert me.”

According to him, he immediately alerted other neighbours, and about eight residents gathered at the scene.

“We all went there and confirmed what he had seen. It was a very painful sight,” he added.

Danladi said the community members decided to bury the foetuses near the dump site.

“Before the burial, some residents expressed anger and condemned whoever might have carried out the act. The women, in particular, were deeply emotional, and some broke down in tears,” he said.

When asked whether anyone was suspected, he said no individual had been identified.

“Acts like this are often carried out by people who are not from the immediate area, making it difficult to trace those responsible,” he noted.

He added that the incident had left a sombre mood in the community.

“Since the discovery, there has been a heavy atmosphere in the area. People are still shaken, especially the women,” he said.

Danladi also confirmed that the matter was not reported to authorities, noting that residents collectively agreed to bury the foetuses.
