The event, which is expected to bring the old boys together for the first time since their graduation from the College 50 years ago, is themed “Schooled and Educated”.

A statement made available to The Frontier yesterday and signed by the Class coordinator and chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the half century celebration, Mr Godwin Okon KSM, said the event will begin on Friday, June 27, 2025 with the arrival of participants, with the main golden jubilee anniversary celebrations holding on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Breakfort Hotel and Suites, House of Assembly Road, Uyo from 4pm.

According to Okon, the Réunion night will be chaired by a Retired Judge of the State High Court, Sir Andrew Okon with an Old Boy of the College and multi award winning front line environmental activist, Architect Nnimmo Bassey, as Guest Speaker.

Among the guests billed to grace the event are the lawmaker representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Aniekan Bassey as the Very Special Guest of Honour; the member representing Uruan state constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Dr Itoro Etim as Mother of the Day while the Special Advisor to the Governor on Political Affairs, Prince Godwin Ntukude, PhD will serve as Father of the Day.

Other dignitaries expected at the celebration include the Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Surveyor Iniobong Ekpenyong who will double as Chief Host with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Akparawa James Edet as well as the Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, General Koko Essien and friends of the celebrants.

Okon said the event will feature awards presentation, anniversary dinner and activities to reminisce their days in the College from 1971 to 1975 under the administration of the late Mr D. J. Usanga who served as the Post War Principal of HOTRICO.

The celebration, which according to Okon, will be first by any group of past students of HOTRICO, will be rounded off on Sunday, June 29, with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Assembly Hall of the College by 10am, to appreciate God’s favour and blessings upon them and keeping them alive 50 years after graduation.

He has requested all former students of Class 75, their school fathers and invited friends of the Class to grace the events on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 at the scheduled locations.
