How I survived trauma of my leaked sex tape – Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage

•Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage, has reopened her wound, recalling how she survived her sex tape leakage, which made headlines about four years ago.

Savage’s sextape was released online in October, 2021, after she raised an alarm that she was being blackmailed over a sex tape of herself and her partner.

In an interview with British media personality, Zeze Mills, which was posted on YouTube, the singer said the darkest moment in her career was when she lost her dad and her sextape was released online.

According to her, the only way she could have survived it was not to think or talk about it.

“My dad died and my sex tape was released. The only way I could have survived was not to think about it,” she said.

Speaking further, Tiwa Savage said that featuring in the interview session meant a lot to her, especially after dealing with different personal issues over the years.

“Being here on the couch with you is such a blessing. Just the fact that you even want to talk to me, people want to hear what I want to say after how many years. It feels good. I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?” the singer added.

On her love life, Tiwa Savage said she has never experienced true love despite her age and past relationships.

“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Because every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married,” she said.

Recall that Tiwa Savage was married to her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz. They got married in 2013 and later divorced in 2018. Their union produced a son, Jamil.
