Talented actor, Nnamdi Agbo ‘s career has soared to new heights after starring as Skipper in the Netflix Original historical drama, ‘Hijack 93’, which premiered on October 25 to rave reviews.

The movie recounts the Nigerian hijacking event of 1993, embellished with suspense and historical depth. It follows the memorable event of October 25, 1993, where four teenage boys hijacked a Nigerian Airways plane as a medium of protest against the annulment of the June 12, 1993 elections.

Nnamdi’s performance in the movie, which has gained substantial viewership, amassing 3.2 million views and securing the 9th spot in Netflix Nigeria’s top 10 list during its debut week, has not only reshaped his acting career, but endeared him to many fans across the world.

Recalling his role in the movie, in a chat with NollyNow, the Enugu State-born actor said starring in ‘Hijack ‘93’ was a defining moment for him. Being his first lead role in the Netflix Original, Agbo said the producers gave him the platform to showcase his talent to the world.

His words: “For a long time that I have been acting, people would say to me they are good. But acting in ‘Hijack 93’, I showed the world the stuff I was made of. After the premiere of the movie till now, I still receive messages of commendations from fans all over the world.

“A producer from India described me as a great actor. That showed that my career was blossoming. I am getting more acknowledgment from my pals and colleagues. Even Producers and directors have already taken notice of me and my career is already skyrocketing after the role I played in ‘Hijack 93’.

“It’s a blessing to see that I am being acknowledged by people in the movie industry. At the same time, I understand that now that fame has come, more eyes are on me and it’s time for me to work harder. Fame is a platform for me to create something big that will impact the next generation.”

A graduate of Theatre and Film from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nnamdi Agbo made his acting debut in 2016, after starring in his short movie, “‘Okega’.

In 2017, he was awarded a scholarship to attend film school at CinéFabrique, Lyon, France, by the Africa International Film Festival, AFRIFF, after being named the best acting student. His talent has also been recognized at the EbonyLife Creative Academy, where he was listed among the Top 3 best male actors in 2022
