Insecurity: Lagos Council bans tricycles with immediate effect

•Keke Marwa

Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area has announced an indefinite restriction on tricycle operation within its jurisdiction, citing escalating security concerns tied to recent violent incidents.

The Council said the decision followed security reports indicating that some recent killings in the area were perpetrated using tricycles, reports The Nation.

It added that the action aligns with the existing statewide ban on commercial motorcycles imposed by the Lagos State Government as part of broader security measures.

In a statement issued in Aguda, Surulere, the Council said the restriction takes immediate effect, describing it as a necessary step to reinforce security and restore public order.

The Executive Chairman directed security agencies to intensify surveillance and re-establish calm, particularly around the Orile community and other parts of Coker Aguda.

The council reiterated that protecting lives and property remains its foremost responsibility and pledged continued collaboration with law enforcement agencies to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
