The Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Keisha, has said the Federal Ministry of Works has scheduled a meeting with Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, to speed up work on the long bridge on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
She said the expansion joints on the bridge (majorly outward Lagos) have become death traps, reports The Nation.
“They have been washed off by the rains. Tyre bursts have become regular occurrences, thus exposing motorists to attacks whenever they stop to replace the deflated tyres,” Mrs. Keisha added.
She said government had been on the contractor to speed up work on the joints replacement.
Keisha said covering up the open joints would also be discussed with the contractor at the meeting, to minimise the pains of motorists.
