INSIDE AKWA IBOM TODAY: Gov Eno restates commitment to qualitative education

The FrontierThe FrontierJuly 25, 2025 2242 Minutes read0

… commissions Model Primary School in Etinan

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has restated his commitment to advancing education, as demonstrated by the commissioning of the newly built Model Primary School at Ikot Isong, Etinan Local Government Area.

The governor who was represented by his political adviser, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh PhD., described the governor’s investment in education as exceptional.

“Governor Umo Eno is a visionary leader. His ARISE Agenda is fully alive in this landmark achievement,” Ntuk Udeh said, adding that the school is a benchmark for educational excellence and a step towards reducing rural-urban migration.

He called on teachers to uphold their roles with diligence and urged the chairman of council and stakeholders to maintain the school’s top-tier facilities.

Dr. Udeh also spotlighted other impactful projects in the area — including the newly launched Ibom Paint Factory — as symbols of sustainable development.

The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Mr Uko Umoh, hailed the governor as a promise-keeper, noting his swift return to commission the school barely one month after unveiling the paint factory. He revealed that he and many other prominent sons and daughters of Etinan are proud alumni of the institution.

In his support for the governor’s benevolence, Uko Umoh announced a donation of 20,000 exercise books to be distributed to schools across Etinan Council Area as well as 250 uniforms for pupils of the newly commissioned model school.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Essien, praised the governor’s educational foresight and detailed the school’s cutting-edge amenities which include, a fully equipped computer lab, on-site medical clinic, 500-seat auditorium, standard football field, furnished apartments for head teachers and staff quarters, and solar-powered systems for uninterrupted energy supply.

o

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Uko Udom SAN, highlighted the school’s significant history and promised that the Etinan Local Government would reciprocate the governor’s gesture.

In his remarks, the Paramount Ruler of Etinan, His Royal Majesty Edidem A. M. Akpan Obong, lauded the governor as a generational thinker, a leader who focuses not on the next election, but on the future of Akwa Ibom’s children.

Members of the Etinan State Constituency, including Isantim Kenneth Okon, Hon. Uduakobong Ekpo-Ufot, and Otuekong Sunny Jackson, expressed heartfelt gratitude and reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty to the governor’s development vision.

The highlight of the event was the commissioning and inspection of the facilities installed at the modern Model Primary School.
