Barely hours after armed terrorists invaded and abducted some students and members of staff of St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Papiri community in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, another set of terrorists have reportedly attacked and abducted an unspecified number of students at the Peter’s Foundation Secondary School in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, another Catholic school.
The incident occurred this afternoon, and details remain sketchy as frantic efforts are underway to reach the Nasarawa State Police Command for confirmation and updates, reports Daily Sun.
Eyewitnesses say several children were whisked away, but the exact number is yet to be determined.
This fresh abduction comes hours after the Niger State Government confirmed that pupils and staff of St. Mary’s School, Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, were also kidnapped during an early-morning attack between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.
The gunmen had, in the early hours of today, stormed the St. Mary’s School where they kidnaped what is said to be over 100 students and staff members.
But the actual number of victims is yet to be ascertained as security agencies were still assessing the situation.
Following the incident, all schools in the Rukubi area have been immediately shut down as a precaution, amidst growing panic and concern over the safety of educational institutions in the region.
