The Ogun State sector of the Federal Roads Safety Corp (FRSC) has confirmed death of nine passengers in a road crash which occurred in the early hours of today around Ayetoro area of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

Three others sustained injuries in the accident, reports Channels TV.

The Chief Route Commander and Public Education Officer of the Sector, Florence Okpe, confirmed this development in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital.

According to her, the suspected causes of the fatal crash were excessive speed and fatigue which led to loss of control and the driver rammed into a stationed truck.

She said that the injured victims have been taken to Famobis Hospital in Mowe, while the deceased were deposited at Idera morgue in Sagamu.

“The Sector Commander is pained over the recklessness of some drivers for not observing the stipulated speed limit and refusal to obey the 15 minutes rest after 4 hrs journey.”
