The Kano Democratic Vanguard (KDV) has condemned in the strongest terms, the recent judgement by Justice Amina Aliyu of a Kano State High Court, which granted an order of perpetual injunction restraining Aminu Ado-Bayero and four other deposed Emirs from parading themselves as Emirs.
The group said the judgment is a shameful display of bias and a clear violation of justice, adding that it has made a mockery of the rule of law and tradition, reports Daily Independent.
The group lamented that the judgement is “another rascality in the quest of Kano state government for power and control.
According to the group, the judiciary has become the latest victim of the Government of Kano state following the subtle way at which Kano’s traditional institution is being destroyed.
KDV alleged that the court has been turned into an extension of former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s kitchen, perpetuating the conspiracy to destroy Kano’s traditional institution.
According KDV, they abolished the century-old Kano Emirate and dethroned Emir Ado Bayero, and reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi against the wishes of the people and laws, claiming that Governor Abba Yusuf and Kwankwaso have turned Kano into a playground for their political machinations, disregarding the rule of law and tradition.
The Kano Democratic Vanguard described the actions of the state government and the court as a slap in the face of democracy and justice.
Therefore, they demanded that the judiciary reverses the judgement and restores the rightful Emir of Kano.
“We urge the people of Kano to stand firm against this tyranny and fight for the restoration of their beloved Emirate.
“The Kano Democratic Vanguard will continue to support the rightful Emir, Ado Bayero, and the people of Kano in their struggle against oppression, the KDV said in a statement.
Further more, the group called on all citizens of Kano to rise up against what it labelled “injustice” and demand the restoration of their traditional institution.
“We will not stand to fold our arms while our heritage is destroyed by power-hungry individuals. Truth shall prevail, and justice will be served.
“We call on the citizens of Kano to remain calm, as truth shall prevail, the group said.
Recall that Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu, had yesterday, Monday, July 15, held that the Kano State House of Assembly had powers to amend and propose a bill for the peace and good governance of the State under section 4 rule 6,7(b) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
“The Kano State Governor has the right to accent the proposed bill to law after being passed by the state assembly.
“The deposed Emirs shall surrender all movable and immovable properties in their possession that belong to the Kano State Emirate Council to the state government, Justice Adamu-Aliyu said.
The court also restrained the Police and other security agencies from violating, disobeying or tempering the Kano State Emirate (Repeal) Law 2024.
