Kenneth Okonkwo’s exit from Labour Party good riddance, says party’s spokesman Arabambi

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, said the exit of Kenneth Okonkwo is a relief for the party as it plans to unseat the present administration come 2027.

Arabambi made this known yesterday when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television, adding that the party remains firm.

His statement follows Okonkwo’s resignation letter on Tuesday, where the former party spokesperson cited the party as being ”non-existent” as a major reason for him pursuing his political career elsewhere.

”And we wish Mr Kenneth Okonkwo well, his resignation is good riddance to bad rubbish. He should not speak about the Labour Party anymore,” Arabambi said.

”There is no leadership crisis in the Labour Party. Labour Party is not going into extinction. It is just a figment of the imaginations of most of our detractors”.

According to the LP National Publicity Secretary, the Nollywood actor has been in collusion with the ruling party as his loyalty was never with the Labour Party.

“The APC man has been working with President Tinubu before, that is Kenneth Okonkwo, he worked against Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections. We wish him well and we will meet in 2027.”

However, Arabambi stated that the party will not tolerate any form of ”political rascality” as proactive steps are in place to weed out those who have loyalties elsewhere.

”But in 2027 we are not going to have such political rascality in our party. The national chairman is on a reconciliatory mission which is why you see a lot of people being jittery.”

When asked why his party is yet to pay vendors two years later, he said, “Two people will be able to answer that, that is Aishat Yesufu and Itua Ighodalo. They were in charge of the party funds and not even the party. They handled party money and they should settle that”.

In 2024, Arabambi called on the EFCC to investigate Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and other prominent figures, including Peter Obi, for alleged embezzlement and misappropriation of the party’s campaign fund.

He had alleged that they were involved in the mismanagement and diversion of over N12 billion and $15 million in donations intended for the Labour Party’s campaign.
