Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed a health worker identified as Akinola Oyabiyi.

Oyabiyi, aged 46, was shot dead inside his car near the Akure Airport at Eleyowo in Akure North Local Government Area, reports The Nation.

It was around the Akure Airport area that two farmers were abducted last week.

Sources said the deceased was returning home when he was shot dead on Tuesday evening.

A source said: “The incident happened on Tuesday at about 8pm when he was going home. The people ( bandits) attacked him. I think they were trying to kidnap him.

“He was shot in the belly and died shortly after. We learned the bandits came out from the bush and shot him in his car.”

Ondo Police spokesman, Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the incident and said investigation has commenced.
