Lagos closes road ahead of APC primaries holding tomorrow, issues traffic advisory

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 9, 2025 4511 Minutes read0

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries scheduled to hold tomorrow, Saturday, May 10, the Lagos State government has announced a traffic advisory and partial road closure around the venue of the exercise.

The primaries, expected to draw a large crowd of party faithful, will hold at the APC State Secretariat located on ACME Road, Ogba, Ikeja, reports The Nation.

In anticipation of heavy traffic and to ensure a hitch-free process, the state government will restrict vehicular movement on ACME Road throughout the day.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed that ACME Road will be inaccessible from three major connecting points — Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent.

“As part of efforts to ensure seamless vehicular flow and reduce congestion in the area, motorists will not be allowed access to the entire stretch of ACME Road,” the statement read.

The state government has therefore provided alternative routes for commuters and motorists:

Motorists approaching from Adeniyi Jones are advised to divert through Aromire to access Allen Junction and continue their journeys.

Those coming from Allen Avenue are to use Aromire to connect Ladipo Oluwole, then proceed through Guinness to reach their destinations.

Similarly, drivers from Akilo Road can link Wemco Road, pass through Lateef Jakande, or head towards Omole to continue their trips.

Osiyemi appealed to residents and commuters to avoid the ACME axis tomorrow unless their movement is necessary.

“We urge members of the public to plan their movements ahead of the day. If you have no urgent business in the area, kindly avoid the route to reduce pressure on adjoining roads,” the commissioner advised.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed to strategic points to guide traffic and ensure compliance with the advisory.
