Late former President Buhari’s wife Aisha, children relocate from Daura to Kaduna

Aisha Buhari, widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has moved with her children from Daura in Katsina State to Kaduna, where they will now reside in the family’s home located in Ungwan Rimi GRA.

The relocation took place over the weekend, barely two weeks after the former president was laid to rest in his hometown of Daura following his death on June 13, 2025, in London. He was buried on July 15, reports Daily Independent.

Aisha Buhari and her children were received at the Kaduna Air Force base by a delegation led by the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe. Photos circulating online show the former First Lady being welcomed by senior state officials and escorted to the residence, the same house former President Buhari had lived in before his final trip abroad.

The move marks the family’s symbolic return to their long-time home and a new chapter in the post-presidency life of the Buhari household. It also signifies the end of their mourning period in Daura and a quiet transition back to private life in Kaduna.

Following her husband’s death, Aisha Buhari’s relocation to Kaduna is seen by many as a deeply symbolic gesture, one that reinforces the family’s ties to the city where the former president spent much of his life before and after his time in office.
