Libya deports 7 Nigerians for violating country’s laws

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 13, 2024 1920 Minutes read0

•The deportees

Thirteen migrants, including seven Nigerians, have been deported from Libya for breaching the country’s laws.

The deportation, overseen by Libya’s Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM), took place at the Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center in Benghazi.

According to a post on X by Migrant Rescue Watch yesterday, the deported individuals included seven Nigerians, three Bangladeshis, and three Ghanaians.

The individuals were escorted out of Libya via Benina International Airport in Benghazi amid increasing efforts by Libyan authorities to manage illegal migration within their borders.

The DCIM has ramped up deportation activities in partnership with international bodies such as Frontex to address the growing migrant crisis.

The post reads, “#Libya 12.11.24 – DCIM deported from Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center 13 #migrants (Bangladesh 3 , Ghana 3 and Nigeria 7) via Benina International Airport in Benghazi. All individuals were deported for violating laws in force in the Libyan state. #migrantcrisis #Frontex.”

Libya, a frequent transit point for migrants seeking to enter Europe, has intensified its enforcement measures, citing security and legal compliance as priorities.
