Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command successfully intervened to prevent a 59-year-old man from committing suicide on the Third Mainland Bridge yesterday

The RRS announced the rescue via a post on its official X handle, @rrsLagos767. The post indicated that the incident occurred around 12:00 p.m. during routine patrols.

The man, a resident of the Ilasa area, expressed feeling overwhelmed by various challenges that led him to contemplate jumping into the lagoon.

CSP Shola Jejeloye, the RRS commander, provided counseling to the individual and arranged for him to be placed in protective custody until family members could arrive.

At about 1200hrs today, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) bike riders on routine patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge prevented a man from jumping into the lagoon.
