Sixteen-year-old Osasere Okundaye has made history as Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant after successfully qualifying through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), drawing praise from the federal government.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, commended the teenager in a statement today, describing her achievement as a reflection of hard work, discipline, resilience, and a strong commitment to excellence, reports The Nation.

“I heartily congratulate Miss Osasere Okundaye on her outstanding achievement of becoming Nigeria’s youngest Chartered Accountant at just 16 years of age,” the minister said.

Olawande noted that her success underscores the vast potential of Nigerian youths and should serve as motivation for others to remain focused and determined in pursuing their ambitions.

“Osasere has distinguished herself as a shining example of the limitless potential of Nigerian youth. Her accomplishment shows that with determination, dedication, and the right support, young Nigerians can break barriers and set new records,” he added.

Here are things to know about Osasere Okundaye:

Osasere Okundaye became Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant at just 16 years old.

She earned the qualification through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), one of the country’s most rigorous professional bodies.

Her achievement surpasses the previous record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who qualified at age 17.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised her accomplishment, describing it as a result of hard work, discipline, and resilience.

The minister said her success reflects the vast potential of Nigerian youths and serves as inspiration for others.

Okundaye’s journey highlights the importance of support from parents, teachers, and mentors in achieving excellence.

Becoming a chartered accountant in Nigeria typically requires years of study and passing multiple professional exams, making her feat highly exceptional.

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development reaffirmed its commitment to supporting young talents through policies and programmes.

Her success is being celebrated as a symbol of hope and a reminder that young Nigerians can break barriers and set new records.
