Mixed reactions trail passenger’s face-off with Ibom Air crew

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 11, 2025 7342 Minutes read0

•Miss Comfort Emmanson being dragged out of the plane

Mixed reactions have trailed videos circulating on X showing an altercation between a female passenger, identified as Ms. Comfort Emmanson, and Ibom Air officials.

Emmanson had reportedly attacked her victims yesterday upon arriving Lagos airport from Uyo after she was allegedly told to switch off her phone before take-off.

She was said to have stepped on her fellow passenger, forcefully removed her wig and eye glasses, threw them on the floor, and assaulted her, reports Daily Trust.

In a statement today, Ibom Air said the passenger was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and “will no longer be permitted to fly on any of our aircraft”.

This development comes less than a week after veteran Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM 1, was involved in an altercation during a flight on ValueJet taking off to Lagos.

The latest incident has sparked debate on social media, with Nigerians expressing divergent views on the conduct of both the passenger and the airline staff.

On X, @fegostee said: “Her wig was already removed, before security bundled her, the hostess was blocking from exiting. I think the video clips were not complete. I need to also see the role the hostess played that triggered the demons in her.”

@vince81viny: “Why can’t they handcuff this lady and take her away … She is obviously exhibiting signs of mental illness .. she’s Not a customer anymore.”

@richandyoung001: “Unprofessional staff, why all up in her face when clearly she’s acting deranged from anger and humiliation, rather than deescalate they make matters worse.”

@Switzpeee: “APC gave room for this to happen. Now she is a nobody, people want to get her beaten up/arrested. K1 should be arrested 1st. She didn’t stand at the runway or stand at the conveyor belt.”

@Sirjacobs_114: “Are you saying all the men could not handle her professionally without dragging her and exposing her nakedness? Handcuff her and hand her over to police or take her to a psychiatrist? This is another two wrongs. The same security that could not drag Wasiu?”.

@Adimchinobi6: “I wonder whom is raising these ladies… that lady should be arrested and charged, an airplane is not craft for violence at all…”

@mrsemjay: “She is wrong but The way she was dragged down is very disturbing.”

@IremObiahu68744: “No wonder, na now I see say she is on colos, I was thinking that they were abusing her, but seeing her reaction now even after being dragged out and disgraced shows me that she is not normal, she is indeed on drug.”

@PapaMadueke: “So she actually thinks an air hostess cannot comfortably pay her flight to and fro whatever olosho work she’s going to do in Lagos. Idi*ot in human form. You can imagine how lowly these uncultured girl’s think of genuine work. Fo*ol”

@okebennito: “She behaved badly, also did the Ibom air crew that took her off the flight. They could have calmed he’d down b4 escorting her out of the flight. Forcibly removing her, and in the process exposing her breasts, is wrong. Totally unprofessional again from the airline crew.”
