•Man burnt to death

There was tension in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West LGA of Edo State when a man identified as Odion allegedly killed his elder brother over family issues bordering on inheritance.

It was gathered that the incident happened at the Iyekhe community in Auchi, when the suspect shot his elder brother identified as Braimah Rasheed, reports Daily Trust.

It was gathered that Odion, who was also killed by a mob had been threatening to kill his brother following disagreements over family affairs, which had to do with inheritance.

Source said the suspect’s younger brother, who travelled to Italy, committed an offence and was jailed and had been accusing his brother of not doing enough to get him released.

The source said Odion had also been pressuring his elder brother to sell their late father’s house and use the money to fight for the release of their jailed brother in Italy.

The deceased said to be a lecturer at the Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, was allegedly ambushed by his younger one while returning home from a relative’s burial and shot him in the head.

He was said to have died on the spot.

It was gathered that after killing his brother, he attempted to flee the scene but was immediately apprehended by a mob, who beat and set him on fire.

It was also learnt that the deceased had since been buried according to Islamic rites.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, said he would get back to the reporter but did not up till the time of filing the report yesterday.
