My dad has 26 children, I want two — Nigerian industrialist Rasaq Okoya’s son Raheem

Raheem Okoya, popularly known as Sir Raheem, son of Nigerian industrialist Rasaq Okoya, has sparked conversation after revealing that he does not plan to follow in his father’s footsteps when it comes to family size.

In a recent interview, the 22-year-old said his father has 26 children with nine different women, describing him jokingly as a “striker”.

Raheem, who said he is number 23 among the children, noted that the first child in the family is about 60 years old, reports Guardian Life.

Despite growing up in a large household, he stated clearly that he wants only two children.

Beyond the viral quote, Raheem is carving out a public identity of his own.

He is both a musician and an executive director at Eleganza Group, the conglomerate founded by his father. The company is known for manufacturing and distributing household and consumer products and has operated in Nigeria for decades.

In an earlier interview with BBC, Raheem addressed questions about his leadership role in the family business. He said his appointment was not handed to him simply because of his surname. According to him, he spent years learning the ropes under the direct supervision of his father, gaining hands-on experience in different aspects of the company’s operations.

He explained that the training process exposed him to the discipline and structure that built the business from the ground up.

Rasaq Okoya, one of Nigeria’s most prominent businessmen, founded the Eleganza Group several decades ago and expanded it into a household name. Over the years, the elder Okoya has remained a significant figure in Nigeria’s industrial and social circles.

Raheem’s dual identity as both a corporate executive and an entertainer has also kept him in the spotlight. Recently, he has collaborated with influencers and appeared in social media posts alongside artistes, streamers and other online personalities.

Musically, he has continued to push his brand. He recently released a track featuring Nigerian singer Teni.

Public interest in Raheem has grown steadily, not only because of his family background but also due to his outspoken interviews.
