National Orientation Agency knocked over producer Omoni Oboli’s film promotion

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 3, 2025 2032 Minutes read0

The National Orientation Agency has come under heavy criticism following a social media post promoting ‘Love in Every Word’, a movie produced by Nollywood veteran filmmaker, Omoni Oboli.

The government agency’s post on X (formerly Twitter) today sparked outrage, with many Nigerians describing it as an inappropriate use of public resources to market a commercial film production.

In the promotional post, NOA described the sequel as “much-anticipated” and highlighted its viewership numbers.

The post read, “The much-anticipated sequel to Love in Every Word, titled Love in Every Word: The Movie, has taken audiences by storm. Released just seven months after the original film, the sequel achieved an impressive six million views on YouTube within its first 24 hours and has now surpassed 13 million views in just one week.”

The agency also praised the film’s cast, which includes Patience Ozokwo, Bamike Olawunmi (Bam Bam), and Uzor Arukwe, stating that it proudly showcased Nigerian talent at its finest.

“Produced by Omoni Oboli, Love in Every Word: The Movie proudly showcases Nigerian talent at its finest, featuring an exceptional cast that includes Patience Ozokwo, Bamike Olawunmi (Bam Bam), Uzor Arukwe, and several other Nollywood favourites.

“The film beautifully explores themes of love, resilience, steadfastness, entrepreneurship, and innovation — delivering a heartfelt narrative that resonates deeply with viewers. With its emotional depth, stellar performances, and outstanding production quality, Love in Every Word: The Movie continues to capture hearts across Nigeria and beyond, affirming the global appeal of Nigerian storytelling,” the post added.

However, the post generated widespread backlash from online users, who questioned the agency’s mandate.

An X user, @real_white, wrote, “Is this the work of the National Orientation Agency? Omo, this country doesn’t have a manual. Everyone is doing as they like.”

Another user, @Dr Wealth, said, “First time I dey come across the official page of National Orientation Agency of my country. A supposed strong tool for public enlightenment on vital happenings in the country.

Especially this critical period. See wetin dem dey enlighten me about.”

Also reacting, @Micah wrote, “Why is Nigeria’s Chief Orientation agency posting superficial nonsense like this at a time when a significant percentage of your population is divided along tribal and religious lines?”

@Chief Substance also said, “This is a clear case of misplaced priorities. How could an official government handle be used to promote an entertainment movie while neglecting its core duties?”

@Ola said, “What is this? You people all need to be fired. Fire them, please, Mr President! They are too confused. Our youths are being radicalised to hate their country and themselves under your watch, and you are showing a film? Useless!”

Love in Every Word 2, a sequel to the first film produced in March 2025 by Oboli, tells the story of two people, Chioma and Odogwu, played by Bamike ‘Bam Bam’ Olawunmi-Adenibuyan and Uzor Arukwe, navigating love, cultural differences, and personal growth.

The movie, which has garnered 13 million views in 10 days, has captured the hearts of many Nigerians.
