Nigerians cautioned against scooping fuel from fallen tankers

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Oyo State Directorate, has warned Nigerians of the dire consequences of scooping fuel from fallen tankers.

According to Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, Oyo State Director, in a statement by Head, Media, Oyo State NOA Isiaka Kehinde, “Scooping fuel from a fallen tanker can be deadly, causing fire outbreaks, explosions, loss of lives and properties, and environmental pollution.”

Dr. Afolayan urged citizens to prioritise safety, noting that fuel is highly inflammable.

“When a tanker falls, leave the vicinity immediately and notify relevant authorities to handle the incident professionally.”

She emphasised that emergency responders are trained to deal with such situations safely and efficiently.

“Let’s not interfere with their work. Instead, wait patiently for them to clear the tanker safely.”

Dr. Afolayan appealed to citizens to learn from past tragic occurrences and prioritise safety over immediate gains.
