•Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem

Nigerians in New South Wales, Australia, have supported Dr. Adewale Kareem for 2027 Oyo State governorship poll.

The endorsement came at a town hall meeting, book launch and fundraising in Doonside, Sydney, which drew political leaders, community elders and professionals of Oyo origin.

The event began with Christian and Islamic prayers, led by Prophet Peter Kekere of Christ Apostolic Church Praise Centre, and Sheikh Ridwan Adigun of Newcastle Muslim Community, reports The Nation.

Speakers emphasised unity and commitment to a progressive Oyo State under Kareem’s leadership.

Among dignitaries were Mr. Olatunbosun Adeyemi, former president of Odua Group of New South Wales; Benjamin Adebajo, APC Australia leader; Dr. Folorunso Oyekan, former vice-president of Odua Group; Mrs. Olayinka Fareo, president of Nigerian Association of New South Wales and Mrs. Funmilayo Komolafe, president of Odua Group of New South Wales.

Highlight was the unveiling of Kareem’s book, Our Realistic Tomorrow. Chief launcher, Ridwan Kadiri, praised him as “a focused leader, who stays true to his mission.”

Chairperson Mrs. Olayinka Fareo lauded AKK’s N5 million micro-loan scheme for small businesses in Oyo communities and formally endorsed his candidacy on behalf of Nigerians in New South Wales.

Oyekan described Kareem as “a visionary, whose love for Oyo State is evident in words and deeds”, while Prophet Kekere offered prayers for his success, calling the project “a divine mission that must not fail.”
