Olubadan elevates 5 chiefs in first official ceremony

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 7, 2025 1151 Minutes read0

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, today, elevated five traditional chiefs in the Olubadan line.

The ceremony was held at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, reports The PUNCH.

The event was the first official traditional function to be performed by the 44th Olubadan.

Ladoja became Olubadan following the demise of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who joined his ancestors on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the age of 90 years.

Our correspondent, who attended the event, reports that those elevated are Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole-Foko, who has been promoted to the position of Otun Olubadan; Asipa Olubadan, Oba Kola Daisi, promoted to the position of Osi Olubadan; and Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, also promoted to the position of Asipa Olubadan.

Others are Oba Muritala Akande, the Ekarun Olubadan, promoted as Ekerin Olubadan and Chief Kola Babalola, the Abese Olubadan, who has been elevated as the Ekarun Olubadan.

The event was attended by a former Minister of Sports, Prof Taoheed Adedoja, the wife of a former Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo and scores of eminent personalities across the country.

Members of Olubadan-in-Council, Iyalode-in-Council, traditional chiefs, and Mogajis were also present at the event.
