Ondo guber election: LP, ADC candidates congratulate Governor Aiyedatiwa, wish him well

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 18, 2024 4672 Minutes read0

•Adeyemi, Aiyedatiwa and Olorunfemi

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Ayo Olorunfemi and his Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) counterpart Myson Aderemi Nejo have hailed Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his victory in the Ondo Governorship Election held over the weekend.

Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor of the state, swept to victory in the just-concluded election, clearing all 18 local governments to seal a four-year term as the leader of the South-West state, reports Channels TV.

Following the feat, Olorunfemi and Aderemi in separate statements said the governor’s victory was a reflection of the people’s wishes.

“Please accept my warm congratulations on your victory and my best wishes for your success as you prepare to take up the responsibilities and challenges of your high office,” the LP candidate said.

“As you embark upon your new responsibilities, I wish to assure you and the people of Ondo State of the continued friendship and sympathetic interest of our great party.

“I look forward to working with you not only to develop closer relations based on our shared values but also to concert our efforts in the cause of peace, development, and the brotherhood of our people.”

‘Joy of His Victory’

For the ADC flagbearer who emerged third in the largely peaceful poll, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory came in an election that was “conducted in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022”.

“Today, the 17th day of November, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the Ondo State Governorship election held on Saturday the 16th day of November, 2024,” Aderemi wrote.

“Having reviewed the conduct of the election which was peaceful, despite the imperfections and pockets of challenges characteristic of any electoral process anywhere in the world, one cannot be left in doubt, as an objective participant in the process, that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.

“Furthermore, and considering the towering imperative to prioritise the interest of the people of Ondo State over personal individual interest or ambition, I have in consultation with my supporters and party leaders and faithful, resolved to felicitate with the winner of the election, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to wish him well and share in the joy of his victory.

“While we continue, as a candidate and as a party, to play our role as a viable opposition by holding the State Government under the leadership of Gov. Aiyedatiwa accountable for policies and actions taken in government, we wish him resounding success in office as he continues to govern the State till February 2025 when he shall take the oath of office to preside over the affairs of the state for another four years.”
