Many supporters of the various political parties in the Bayelsa State governorship election awaiting the announcement of the final results have besieged the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Yenagoua, the Bayelsa State capital.
The party supporters, mainly youths on hearing that the collation of results had begun were seen racing towards the INEC office located along Swali Road in Yenagoa.
The commission had adjourned result collation till 3 pm after receiving the results from three local government areas, Kolokuma/Opukuma, Ogbia, and Yenagoa respectively.
Just after the break, the party supporters, including women were seen in two different locations leading to the INEC office dragging chairs and taking vantage positions very close to the INEC office.
But for the soldiers and policemen who stopped them, they would have found their way to the INEC main premises.
Three patrol vans and two Armoured Personnel Carriers manned with fierce-looking operatives were stationed at opposite Directions to prevent the party supporters from going further.
As of the time of filing this report on Sunday afternoon, the INEC had yet to reconvene to continue collation.
