The Edo State leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the upcoming declaration ceremony of Chief Dele Momodu, a renowned Nigerian journalist and politician, as a member of the party.

This event is regarded as a significant political milestone for Edo State, the South-South region, and Nigeria as a whole, reports Daily Independent.

Dele Momodu, a former presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), is a distinguished veteran publisher, author, and educator with decades of experience in media and public discourse.

His decision to join the ADC is expected to enhance the party’s national profile and reinforce its commitment to a progressive, people-centred political ideology.

A press release issued by Mabel Oboh, the ADC South-South Zonal Publicity Secretary, emphasised that Momodu’s entry into the party represents a critical boost for the region, reflecting increased confidence in the ADC as a viable platform capable of fostering inclusive governance and democratic renewal.

“Chief Dele Momodu’s decision to align with the African Democratic Congress marks a strategic and welcome development,” the statement stated.

“It reaffirms ADC’s dedication to progressive leadership, regional development, and empowering the people through politics.”

The statement also noted that prominent ADC leaders and national stalwarts are expected to attend the declaration ceremony.

Among them are ADC Edo National Leader, H.E. John Odigie Oyegun, the former APC national chairman, Kennedy Odion, the ADC Edo State Chairman; Elder Festus Igbinoba, the National Chief Whip, H.E. Oserheimen Osumbor, the National Legal Adviser; and Mabel Oboh herself, alongside other senior members of the Edo State party leadership.

In addition, notable political figures, including Senators Yisa Braimoh, Roland Owie, and Ehigie Uzamere, are expected to be present, along with other influential party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders, demonstrating broad support.

The formal declaration is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 p.m., at the ADC Party Secretariat located on Ogbelaka Street in Benin City, Edo State.

Party leaders are calling on all ADC stakeholders, members, and supporters to attend in large numbers to reinforce the party’s growing influence in Edo State, the South-South region, and across Nigeria.
