PDP national chairmanship: Ex-Minister Abah consults with North Central

The FrontierThe FrontierApril 4, 2024 2131 Minutes read0

The former Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Humphrey Abah, has commenced consultation with executives of the North Central of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he aspires for the national chairmanship position of the party.

The consultative meeting with stakeholders of the party in his zone offers an opportunity to unveil his vision for the PDP, including repositioning and fostering unity among members in the promotion of internal democracy as provided by the party’s position, reports Daily Sun.

According to a source who attended the meeting with the critical stakeholders of the party, “Recognizing the importance of grassroots mobilisation and inclusive leadership, Barr Abah assured party leaders and stakeholders of his commitment to ensuring that every member’s voice is heard and valued, just as he emphasised on the need for transparent and accountable governance. The National Chairman hopeful assured stakeholders that he would be guided by the fundamental principles of accountability and transparency if elected as the next PDP National Chairman”.

The former minister expressed gratitude for the warm reception and robust engagement with members of the North-Central party executives and reiterated his dedication to serving the PDP and the nation with integrity, competence, and unwavering determination, just as he did when he was Minister of State, Trade and Investment, Minister of State, Interior and sub-substantive Minister of Police Affairs between 2007 and 2011.

The commencement of consultation with party executives from the North-Central, the source said, marked a significant milestone in the former minister’s campaign to realise his ambition of becoming the next PDP National Chairman, a position that has been zoned to the North-Central geo-political zone. Abah’s outreach efforts added the source, reflect a strategic approach to developing a strong support base across the party’s diverse membership across regional divides and boosting the prospects of ensuring that Abah becomes the next National Chairman of Nigeria’s number one opposition party.

With a fixed determination and vision of becoming the next National Chairman of the PDP, Abah is set to continue travelling and meeting with various party stakeholders in various geo-political zones in a bid to shore up support and engage with party stakeholders in order to ensure he becomes a formidable candidate for the position of the PDP National Chairman.
