Pharmacists, chemists warned against administering injections

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 11, 2024 2040 Minutes read0

The Rivers State Government has warned pharmacists operating pharmacies and other medical personnel operating patient medicines stores, better known as chemists, from administering injections and other intravenous medications on patients.

The state government also shut down six medical facilities operating in the state for operating without authorisation, as well as engaging in unethical and unprofessional conducts.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh, made the disclosure during a media briefing on the activities of the Anti-Quackery Committee of the Ministry in Port Harcourt.

She said the facilities, located outside the state capital were run by unlicensed and unqualified persons, carrying out surgeries without the requisite facilities and supervision and also training quacks to spread their illegal activities.

Oreh said the facilities sealed included Parley Hospital and Maternity, Ogale, Success Maternity, Aleto, Noble Life Maternity and Computer Test, Aleto all in Eleme LGA, Futurist Medical Centre, Omagwa, Ikwerre LGA, Godbless Hospital Kom-kom and ASHA Specialist Hospital, La Quinta Street, Afam, both in Oyigbo LGA.
