•The two suspects

The police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the abduction of Mrs. A. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu.

Mrs. Odumosu was kidnapped by four masked men at her residence in Arepo, Lagos, at around 9:55 p.m. on January 16, reports The Nation.

The police had previously announced her rescue from an Ikorodu forest, where two suspects were killed in a gunfight, and N10 million, along with assorted firearms and ammunition, was recovered.

In a statement on Friday, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed that the two new suspects—Agbojule Smart, 27, and Keleke Michael, 30—were apprehended by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad.

The suspects were arrested this morning while attempting to leave Lagos, with N2,250,000 recovered from them.

“Upon interrogation, they confessed to their crime; belonging to a gang of four, 2 of whom have been neutralised previously.

“Recovered from the suspects upon their arrest were the sum of Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira, which was part of the requested ransom, two locally fabricated rifles, and 11 live cartridges,” stated Adejobi.

He said the Inspector General of the (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun commended the operatives for their gallantry in apprehending these suspects and encouraged them to maintain this high standard of competence in the fight against crime in all its manifestations.

“The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its commitment to public safety and the security of the good citizens of Nigeria.

The Force remains steadfast in its commitment to reducing crime to an absolute minimum and fostering the establishment of peace across the nation,” he said.
