Police intercept truck in Lagos carrying sacks of military camouflage •VIDEO

•The intercepted military camouflage

Forty-seven sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of suspected illicit substances have been intercepted by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit along the Lekki-Epe axis in a major intelligence-led operation by the Lagos State Police Command.

Speaking with journalists yesterday at the command headquarters in Ikeja, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, said the truck used in the operation was allegedly conveying the military uniforms to the South-East.

Fatai added that four suspects have been arrested and are assisting investigators in efforts to identify and apprehend those behind the importation, reports Channels TV.

“This was intercepted by operatives of the tactical team while it was being moved out of Lagos State. We received intelligence on the movement and immediately swung into action. The vehicle conveying the sacks was headed from Lagos to a destination in the South-East.

“Following the intelligence, the vehicle was intercepted and those transporting the items were arrested. They are currently in our custody and investigations are ongoing,” Fatai said.

The police commissioner added that cartons of suspected illicit drugs were also being transported alongside the sacks of military camouflage uniforms.

He said the case remains under investigation as the police work to identify and apprehend those behind the operation.

“Areas where we have seen these bandits, we have seen them wear these uniforms all over the place, who knows what they want to do with this, nobody could tell. We are still investigating to get to the root of the matter for now,” the Police Commissioner said.
