Police probe viral video of armed officers escorting actress Angela Okorie

The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into a viral video showing actress Angela Okorie being escorted by armed police officers while jogging.

The Force said this incident is inconsistent with professional standards, reports The PUNCH.

In a statement posted today on its official X handle, and signed by Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police described the officers’ conduct as falling short of the discipline and decorum expected of personnel.

“The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged—an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.

“The incident, which appears to have occurred on or around a movie set, has also sparked widespread public concern and criticism,” the statement read.

Adejobi said that although the video appeared to have been shot on or near a movie set, it had sparked public concern and criticism.

“While it remains unclear whether the scene was part of a scripted production, the conduct of the officers seen in the video falls short of the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Accordingly, necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video, while appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review,” he said.

The Nollywood actress is yet to comment publicly on the controversy.

Checks by our correspondent revealed that the video in question appears to be from a behind-the-scenes shoot for Queen of Guns, a project Okorie began promoting about eight weeks ago.

In a video shared on her Instagram page at the time, Okorie teased the production with the caption, “Day 1: Lights camera action! Queen of Guns is ready to blow away your mind. Are you ready?”
