POS operator murdered despite offering money to his attackers

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 11, 2026 1400 Minutes read0

A 30-year-old Point of Sale (POS) operator, Aliyu Musa Vatsa, was killed in his bedroom by unknown assailants in the “T Mama” area of Minna, Niger State, on Monday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects forced their way into Vatsa’s residence and, despite being offered a substantial sum of money by the victim to spare his life, reportedly told him, “We don’t need your money; we are here just to kill you.”

Neighbours who heard Vatsa’s cries rushed to the scene but were unable to prevent the attack, reports Vanguard.

The eyewitness said the assailants first stabbed him in the stomach before macheting him across his body, then fled the scene.

Vatsa was reportedly rushed to Minna General Hospital, but he died before receiving medical attention.

His elder brother, Malam Ibrahim Kolo, described the attack as “shocking, sad and pathetic” and confirmed that Vatsa has been laid to rest. He urged the police to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, declined to comment on the incident.
