Railway Corporation postpones resumption of Warri-Itakpe train services

The FrontierThe FrontierApril 25, 2025 2740 Minutes read0

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has extended the resumption of the recently suspended Warri-Itakpe train services, citing the need to implement necessary redundancies that will support sustainable operations in line with best practices.

The management had announced the temporary suspension of full rail services on the Warri-Itakpe Train Services (WITS), on Thursday, 10 April 10, 2025, due to some technical and operational issues, reports The Guardian.

An electronic statement by NRC noted the decision also stemmed from the need to improve its safety, better customer service experience and improved operational efficiencies.

“The management of the Corporation, under the leadership of Dr. Kayode Opeifa, wishes to further clarify that while the major technical issues have been resolved by our technical team, additional time is required to implement necessary redundancies that will support sustainable operations in line with best practices,” the document noted.

It added that the suspension period will also be utilised to address other operational concerns, including improvements in customer services, equipment safety standards, and procedural upgrades.

“We appreciate the understanding and patience of our esteemed passengers and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
