RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Adeboye reacts to controversial photo portraying him as Alhaji

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 4, 2025 8690 Minutes read0

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has responded to an AI-generated image that recently went viral on social media, portraying him as an alhaji.

Speaking during the first Holy Ghost Night of the Year today, January 4, Adeboye addressed the matter, as reported by Church Times Nigeria.

The controversial image, which surfaced in late December, depicted the RCCG pastor dressed in Islamic attire and seemingly in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, sparking widespread reactions online.

This image initially circulated by X user @Sarkideyforyou, the post, which was accompanied by the caption, “Pastor Adeboye may Allah guide you to the right path,” garnered significant attention, with over 3.8 million views, 1,500 reposts, 1,800 comments, and 4,000 likes as of December 22, 2024.

While he was addressing the growing presence of mockers, he predicted that many would not survive the year.

With a wry smile, he acknowledged the AI-generated image of him as an alhaji, remarking, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.”
