The Anglican Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese, in River State, Dr Blessing Enyindah, has called on President Bola Tinubu to as a matter of urgency address the increasing hardship facing Nigerians.

Many Nigerians have been begging the government to find solutions to the continued increase in the prices of food in the country, reports The PUNCH.

Enyindah, who spoke during his sermon at the funeral service for late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at Saint Andrews Cathedral Church Imola, Owo, Ondo State on Friday, urged the President to act fast on the matter.

Enyindah said, “May I on behalf of Nigerians pray and call on the President, Senator Bola Tinubu, to do something to reduce the hardship faced by Nigerians.

“We have the hope he would do it because he promised us renewed hope and according to him, it is his turn, so the turn and opportunity have been given to him now. We are waiting and expecting the fulfillment of the renewed hope.

“We plead with him to do it fast because time, that is four or eight years as the case may be, is brief and the time is running.”

Akeredolu, who died on December 27, 2023, during a protracted illness in Germany, was laid to rest in Owo his country home on Friday.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented Tinubu, at the service, was among the dignitaries that attended the service.

Others include Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Edo State Governor Mr Goodwin Obaseki, former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusẹgun Mimiko, former governor of Ogun State, Mr Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, political appointees, bodies of benchers among others.
