•Former President Muhammadu Buhari
The Frontier yesterday published a story with headline “Ex-President Buhari boycotts Babangida’s book unveiling” which was adapted from a story in a respected national daily newspaper (name withheld by us) with a similar headline, “Buhari absent as Babangida’s autobiography, ‘A Journey in Service’, unveils in Abuja”.
We’ve since been contacted by the IBB camp to debunk the published story in The Frontier, stating that Buhari didn’t intentionally stay away from the event, he was actually represented.
“He didn’t boycott. He sent a representative in immediate past Minister of Transport, Seidu Jaaji,” Prince Kassim Afegbua, spokesman to ex-Military President Ibrahim Babangida said in a chat with The Frontier.
It was later gathered that Buhari was personally absent at the well attended event in Abuja yesterday because he had another engagement which he already accepted before he received Babangida’s invitation hence he sent his former Minister of Transport to represent him.
EDITOR’S NOTE:
We sincerely apologise to our esteemed readers, particularly former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Babangida, for the mix-up.
We appreciate IBB’s camp, who are friends of the House, for promptly pointing out the error in the said publication yesterday.
We at The Frontier will always strive at all times to maintain the very high standard of journalism which we are known for globally.
Thank you.
