ROMANCE GONE SOUR: I pay rent, feed my family, yet my husband beat me till I had stroke

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 30, 2024 2860 Minutes read0

A fashion designer, Mrs Joy Egbo, has dragged her husband, Obi, before a Customary Court sitting in Jikwoyi, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), accusing him of domestic violence.

The petitioner who resides in Jikwoyi, made the accusation in a divorce petition she filed against her husband in court.

“My husband always beats and abuses me verbally and physically. I suffered a partial stroke as a result of these abuses.

“My hospital records and scan results are proofs of these attacks”, she said.

She told the court that her husband does not provide food for the family.

“I pay the rent, hospital bills, provide food, clothing and other necessary things, ”she said.

She also told the court that her husband forced her to lend him money from her business.

“He beats me if I refuse to borrow him.”

The respondent, who is a teacher, denied all the allegations.

The judge, Thelma Baba adjourned the case.
