ROMANCE GONE SOUR: My husband threatened to kill me, got my mother arrested ‘cos he wanted to marry new wife

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 9, 2024 3091 Minutes read0

A woman, Folakemi, has approached Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking the dissolution of her 22-year-old wedlock to her husband, Kazeem on the grounds of lack of peace, constant fight and threat to her life.

Folakemi said that Kazeem refused that she enjoyed their marriage because he was always fighting her, reports Saturday Tribune.

She stated that he threw her out of their bedroom because he wanted to take another wife.

The plaintiff also said that the defendant not only threatened her life but that of her mother, whom he arrested with the Civil Defence officers.

Folakemi pleaded for the custody of their last two children and further beseech the court to mandate her husband to be responsible for their upkeep.

“She also requested free access to the other three children.

Folakemi, in addition, requested an order restraining him from threatening and interfering with her private life.

Kazeem did not come to court despite being served court summonses.

Folakemi, in her testimony, said, “My husband has continually made my life miserable for the 22 years we have been married.

“He never sees anything good in all that I do and will always complain.

“We fight every now and then, and he will ignore me for days.

“He keeps threatening me and refuses that I have peace of mind.

“He told me he wanted to take a new wife and ordered that I moved out of our bedroom.

“I did in order for peace to reign, and I moved into our son’s room.

“Not satisfied, he again insisted that l moved out of his house.

“He threatened to kill me when I insisted on not leaving.

“He accused my mother of ill advising me and harassed her with the Civil Defence.

“My lord, I have had enough of my husband’s atrocities and want divorce.

“I pray the court to grant me custody of our last two children and access to the other three.

“I further beseech the court to mandate him to be responsible for the upkeep of the children with me.

“I, in addition, request an order restraining him from threatening and interfering with my private life.”

The president of the court, Mrs S.M Akintayo, adjourned the case and ordered that a fresh hearing notice be issued and served the defendant.
