Security operatives in power showoffs to intimidate protesters in Rivers

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 3, 2024 2880 Minutes read0

•Security Operatives

A combined team of security operatives engaged in public showoffs today, in an attempt to intimidate protesters in Rivers State.

Our correspondent who was on ground to cover Day 3 of the protest, witnessed officers of the Counter Terrorism Unit, distinguishable by their red headgear arrive at the Pleasure Park where there were other regular policemen on ground.

The officers were seen blocking the road while clutching tightly to their guns, and at the same time impeding movement in an apparent show of force for about five minutes, before moving on, reports Channels TV.

Their presence, it was observed, succeeded in sending shivers down spines, and a clear message to a pocket-full of protesters on ground.

Some of the protesters who were seen holding onto placards for display, were intimated to lift their written signcards as they watched the officers drive on.

“Nah Una we dey fight for” (We are fighting for you too), some of the protesters told the security operatives as they drove past.
