Shut up! Get out!! – Former APC chieftain Babachir Lawal slams presenter on live TV programme

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, lashed out at a journalist during a live broadcast yesterday.

Trouble started when the TVC journalist, Nifemi Oguntoye, compared the electoral process of 2019, under Muhammadu Buhari to that of 2023 that produced President Bola Tinubu, reports Daily Trust.

“Mr Lawal, it is the same electoral processes in 2019 and 2023. I mean the same administration you served under. I didn’t see quite much difference between what happened then and now,” the anchor said.

In response, Babachir said; “Give me a break my friend! Shut up! Shut up! Get out! Give me a break! How can you say the Buhari government’s electoral process is the same as Bola Tinubu’s? What’s your problem? Give me a break…The Tinubu government didn’t win the election…”

Reacting in a calm manner, the journalist said: “I’ll take ‘get out’ because I’ve invited you to my house but I’m just trying to have an intellectual conversation with you Mr. Lawal…”

The former SGF, who served under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari during his first term, officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently.

He announced his decision in a letter dated June 29, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of APC in Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
