Stop telling lies – Nigeria’s prolific singer Tems blasts American record producer

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 20, 2024 4400 Minutes read0

•Tems and ATL Jacob

Grammy award-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, and American record producer ATL Jacob engaged in a public exchange on social media over a lingering issue.

The dispute arose when ATL Jacob, in a recent podcast, asserted that Tems initially resisted clearing her sample on ‘Wait For, U,’ a track by Future featuring her and Drake.

ATL Jacob, the producer of the song, alleged that Future had to intervene and leverage his relationship with Tems to secure her approval for the sample.

However, his claims were criticized by social media users, prompting Tems and her manager to deny the allegations.

Reacting to the backlash via X, ATL Jacob wrote: “All this negativity coming to me … I got a $100,000 wire transfer for Tems and her team to find me 1 time I spoke negatively about her.”

Replying, Tems said she would offer the American producer $1 million instead if he stops “telling lies.”

She wrote: “It’s not about saying anything negative. Stop telling lies. I’ll give you 1 million.”
