•Nigeria’s Super Falcons
Super Falcons star, Esther Okoronkwo, is confident of Nigeria winning a record-extending 11th title at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Nigeria, defending champions of the competition, qualified for the tournament following a 3-1 aggregate win over neighbours Benin Republic.
Speaking days after the team sealed a ticket to the competition billed for next year, Okoronkwo believes the Super Falcons can write history again in Morocco.
“Yes. With Nigeria, everything is possible for sure,” the AFC Toronto forward, known for her assists, spoke on Channels TV last night .
“We’re not going there to not want to win or just go there for vibes. We want to win the 11th [WAFCON title] for sure.”
The Super Falcons beat the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3-2, coming from behind, to win the title in July.
Okoronkwo scored a goal and bagged two assists in that game, earning her the Player of the Match gong and subsequently, nomination for the African Women Player of the Year alongside team skipper, Rasheedat Ajibade.
