Suspected killer of Rivers DPO in police net

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 17, 2025 2801 Minutes read0

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a suspected murderer, who is a member of a cult group responsible for the death of a former DPO of Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim.

In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, it was revealed that the cult group, which the arrested suspect is a member of, has been terrorising Ahoada in Rivers State.

Iringe-Koko noted that the operatives of the command had received information about the cultist, who is popularly referred to as K1, in May, reports The Guardian.

She stated that K1 was a member of the Iceland cult, led by the late Gift David Okpara, also known as 2Baba, which was implicated in the murder of SP Bako Angbashim, the former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada.

“The police operatives swiftly stormed the suspect’s camp in Ikata Community, Ahoada East LGA, and arrested one Lovegod Goodluck, a male resident of Ikata community,” the spokesperson noted.

Police operatives recovered one locally made single-barrel gun and two live cartridges from the suspected cultist.

In a similar operation, one male suspect who had previously escaped, Precious Olumini, was arrested. Police operatives recovered an English-made pump-action gun and a locally made pistol from Olumini.

Iringe-Koko added that Olumini and K1 confessed to being members of the Iceland cult group that has been terrorizing the Ahoada-East axis of the state and are now in police custody.

“Suspects and exhibits are in police custody. Investigation is currently in progress, with efforts being intensified to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover their operational weapons.”
